The cup you reach for instead of your third coffee

The cup you reach for instead of your third coffee

Somewhere around mid-afternoon, the third coffee stops being a decision and starts being a reflex. This is about a different reflex: not an anti-coffee sermon, just a different cup for the hours coffee doesn't love you back.

A different composition, not a bigger promise

Whole cacao is theobromine-led: about 156mg per 20g cup, alongside ~51mg of caffeine, roughly half a regular coffee. Theobromine is caffeine's milder relative; as a molecule, it acts more gently and clears more slowly. We'll describe the composition and let your afternoon draw its own conclusions.

A whole food, not an extraction

An espresso is an extract of the bean. Whole cacao is the bean, its own cacao butter still in it, ground smooth enough to melt into milk. You drink cacao's compounds alongside the fat they grew up with. (That's a description of the format, not a medical claim; we're strict about the difference.)

Asked and answered

Will it wake me up like coffee?

It carries about half a coffee's caffeine, plus cacao's own theobromine. Many people describe the cup as steadier company than their usual third coffee; experiences vary, and we only promise the composition.

When do people drink it?

Anywhere they'd otherwise reflex for coffee number two or three: mid-morning, mid-afternoon, or as the evening cup where coffee is out of the question.

Can I drink it daily?

It's food: one ingredient, batch-tested. Budget the caffeine like half a coffee.

Does it taste like coffee?

No, and it isn't trying to. Batch 001 reads roasted almond, earthy depth and fresh cream: creamy in milk, dark at the finish, zero sugar in the cup.

Where it comes from

Single-origin Borneo cacao, stone-ground in Bali, tested batch by batch, published on the Batch Results page. Nothing added. Nothing to hide.
